Orban wrote on his social media account: “The Hungarian initiative to invite the European Union to hold a European-Russian summit as soon as possible is on the agenda.” Orban added: “If Europe does not negotiate directly with Russia, a deal will be made over our heads.” Orban had earlier indicated that Europe had shown its weakness and inability in its pursuit to impose conditions on Russia and the United States.
The Hungarian Prime Minister commented on the European Union leaders’ statement regarding Ukraine, in which they pledged to continue providing military and diplomatic support to Kyiv and impose sanctions on Russia. Budapest did not support this document.
