IMF Urges G20 to Tackle Developing Nations’ Debt

On Monday, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva stated that the IMF will continue urging the Group of 20 major economies to address ongoing debt challenges affecting developing nations.

During the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, Georgieva noted that the impact of U.S. tariffs was less severe than anticipated, yet uncertainty remains significant.

“Growth is sluggish, debt levels are high, and financial downturn risks persist,” she said, highlighting the IMF’s collaboration with the World Bank to support countries facing liquidity challenges.
