India and Pakistan have both prolonged the closure of their airspace to each other for an additional month.

According to PTI, both countries have issued separate Notices to Airmen about the extended ban, which will now last until September 24.

India initially closed its airspace to Pakistani airlines shortly after Pakistan prohibited Indian airlines from flying over its territory, following the killing of 26 individuals in an attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22.

Political tensions have frequently disrupted air travel in the region. In 2019, following the Pulwama terror attack and subsequent military escalation, Pakistan closed its entire airspace for nearly five months. This closure impacted over 400 flights daily, necessitating rerouting, which resulted in longer flight times and significantly increased fuel costs for both Indian and international airlines.
