Moscow – Sputnik. This came in response to Howard Lutnick’s recent interview with Bloomberg, in which he stated that India still refuses to open its domestic market to American products, stop buying Russian oil, and suspend its participation in the BRICS group.
Ulyanov wrote on the platform ‘X’, ‘This man (Lutnick) acts. He does not genuinely understand why India does not pay attention to the threats and blackmail from Washington.’
In late August, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff on India due to its purchases of Russian oil and petroleum products. As a result, tariffs on imports of Indian goods and services were raised to 50%.
India describes U.S. actions as ‘unreasonable and unfair’ but affirms its readiness for dialogue and to continue seeking compromises. Indian authorities also point out that U.S. criticism is selective, as China and the European Union continue to buy Russian oil.
