An IndiGo flight bound for Dubai from Surat, with around 150 passengers onboard, was rerouted to Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport on Thursday morning due to a mid-air technical issue.

The Airbus A320-271N, operating as flight 6E 1507, took off from Surat at 9:45 am and made a precautionary landing in Ahmedabad at approximately 11:40 am. The landing was not deemed an “emergency.”

An official IndiGo statement said, “IndiGo flight 6E 1507, en route from Surat to Dubai, made a precautionary landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad due to a technical snag. We promptly arranged an alternative aircraft to ensure the journey continued while maintenance checks are carried out on the original aircraft.”

The spokesperson added, “We apologize for any inconvenience and provided meals and refreshments during the delay. At IndiGo, the safety and security of our customers and crew are paramount.”

IANS reported that the replacement flight departed from Ahmedabad around 1:45 pm and arrived in Dubai at 1:35 pm local time.

This incident follows a month after another IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa made an emergency landing in Mumbai due to engine failure mid-flight.
