The Ministry of Emergency Management has initiated comprehensive rescue operations, ordered an assessment of the missing individuals’ status, and sent a task force to the site, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Natural disasters frequently affect China, especially during summer when certain regions face heavy rainfall, while others endure extreme heat.

Earlier in August, flash floods and mudslides in northwest China claimed at least 13 lives, as reported by state media.

Last month, intense rainfall in Beijing led to 44 deaths, with rural suburbs of the capital being the most affected. Additionally, eight people perished in a landslide in the neighboring Hebei province.

Scientists have demonstrated that human-driven climate change is intensifying weather patterns, increasing the likelihood of catastrophic floods.
