In statements to the Iranian news agency “IRNA” today, Monday, during his visit to Moscow, Islami said, “Iran and Russia will sign an agreement regarding the construction of new nuclear power stations in the coming days.” He explained that “under the agreement between the governments of the two countries, Russia is set to build eight nuclear stations, four of which will be in Bushehr. Iran had to determine the sites for the construction of the subsequent stations for the Russian side.” Field visits to the station sites and contractual negotiations have previously been conducted. With the signing of the agreement this week, the project will automatically enter the implementation phase concerning design, engineering, and supplementary procedures. On August 28, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany informed the United Nations Security Council about triggering the mechanism to re-impose sanctions that were lifted under the 2015 nuclear agreement. Subsequently, on September 19, the United Nations Security Council rejected a draft resolution not to re-impose sanctions on Iran, which means the re-imposition of UN Security Council restrictions. This is expected to occur after September 27.
