Tehran – Sputnik. In a post on ‘X’, Baqaei commented on former US President Donald Trump’s reposting of a previous statement by former Iranian Parliament Vice Speaker Ali Motahari. Baqaei remarked that Trump ‘ignores the testimony of the U.S. Director of National Intelligence (Tulsi Gabbard) before Congress last March, where she confirmed that Iran is not manufacturing a nuclear weapon.’
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that ‘(The US President’s) resorting to the personal analysis of an Iranian citizen from 2022 reveals the political, rather than real, nature of his claims.’
This came after Trump reposted a previous statement by the former Iranian Parliament Vice Speaker Ali Motahari from 2022, where Motahari said, ‘When we began engaging in nuclear activities, our real goal was to make a bomb.’
In March of last year, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, testified before Congress, stating, ‘The intelligence community continues to assess that Iran is not manufacturing a nuclear weapon and that Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program, which was suspended in 2003.’
