Iran Criticizes Western Accusations and New US Sanctions

Today, Friday, Beqai added that America, France, and several of their allies are repeating ‘ridiculous baseless accusations’ as part of what he described as a ‘malicious campaign to instill fear of Iran,’ according to Iran’s Tasnim agency.

He continued: ‘The Western countries that signed the statement against Iran are harboring and hosting terrorist elements,’ emphasizing that they should bear the responsibility for supporting terrorism and violating international law.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also pointed to what he described as the ‘latest American and Israeli aggression against Iran,’ calling on these countries to respect the United Nations Charter and cease their ‘irresponsible behavior.’

He asserted that ‘such media and political campaigns are nothing but a forward escape,’ amidst the ongoing ‘Western support for genocide in Gaza,’ as he put it.

On Thursday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned ‘America’s imposition of new sanctions on a group of natural and legal persons and ships linked to the Iranian energy and oil sectors.’

It noted that the ‘new measures are continuous hostility by Washington decision-makers against our people,’ indicating that they ‘aim to weaken the country and deprive citizens of their basic rights.’

On Wednesday, the American government announced the ‘imposition of a new series of sanctions on Iran, targeting 50 individuals and entities, and more than 50 ships suspected to belong to a commercial fleet owned by the son of a senior official in Tehran.’
