In a press briefing held last Thursday and reported by an American media outlet, the center revealed the registration of about 300,000 confirmed and suspected cases, along with more than 7,000 deaths, marking an increase of over 30% compared to the total cases recorded throughout last year.

The center’s data indicated a worsening situation in Angola and Burundi in recent weeks, due to a severe shortage of clean water, while confirming that “the outbreak in Congo is now under control with a noticeable decline in numbers.”

In related news, there was a relative improvement in South Sudan and Somalia, according to the center’s data. It is noteworthy that the severe diarrheal disease can be fatal within hours if not treated and spreads easily when drinking water is contaminated with untreated sewage.
