Iran Unveils Improved Missiles: Emad and Qadr

Tasnim confirmed that the Revolutionary Guards unveiled the improved missiles “Emad” and “Qadr” belonging to the aerospace force on Saturday. It was emphasized that the “Emad” missile has the ability to deploy on a launch system from silos in underground missile cities, known as the “missile barrage” system. It was stated that the “Qadr” ballistic missile is the first long-range missile of the first generation in the country, available in three generations: F, H, and S. It measures 17 meters in length, weighs between 15 to 17.5 tons, and covers an operational range of 1350 to 1950 kilometers.

The “Qadr” missile possesses a dual-stage propulsion system and operates on liquid and solid fuel, flying in a ballistic trajectory. “Qadr H” missiles were launched in the twenty-first wave of the “Sincere Promise 3” operation toward Israeli targets. “Qadr” is known as the first Iranian long-range ballistic missile operating on liquid fuel and equipped with a guided warhead. This feature is possible through the installation of fins on the missile’s warhead, granting it control until impact. The “Emad” missile measures 15.5 meters in length, weighs over 17 tons, and has a range of 1700 kilometers, capable of carrying a warhead weighing 750 kilograms.

It was reported that the improved “Qadr” ballistic missile is now equipped with electronic warfare countermeasures, and the “Emad” missile has been enhanced and is ready for operations. Iran announced its success in a test in October 2015, with then-Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan stating that this missile is the first Iranian missile that can be controlled and guided to hit its target. While Iran claims that the “Emad” missile cannot carry nuclear warheads, the United States believes that the missile is capable of carrying nuclear warheads, considering its development a direct violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1929.

Previously, long-range ballistic and hypersonic missiles “Khoramshahr-4,” “Khoramshahr-1,” “Qader” in three generations, “Sejil,” “Jihad,” “Kheibar Shekan,” and “Fattah 1 and 2” were unveiled. The “Martyr Haj Qassem” and “Ridwan” missiles were also disclosed, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
