Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported today, Friday, that the ‘Committee for Freezing Terrorists’ Funds’ at the Central Bank of Iraq has issued a clarification regarding the ‘publication in the Iraqi Gazette, issue number 4848 on 17/11/2025, which includes the freezing of funds and assets for a list of entities and individuals.’
The Iraqi committee clarified that the publication in the gazette was related to the terrorist organizations ‘ISIS’ and ‘Al-Qaeda’ (banned in Russia and several other countries), based on a request from Malaysia and pursuant to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373 of 2001.
The Iraqi government emphasized in its clarification that the approval was limited to including entities and individuals exclusively linked to ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
The Iraqi committee called for the removal of the names and ‘Houthis’ from the list of terrorist organizations published in the official gazette.
An official document issued by the committee showed that ‘it is requested to delete names 19 and 18 from the table published regarding the freezing of funds of terrorist organizations, as a bulletin was attached with these names and entities.’
