Emerging UAE talent Rayan Ahmed made a significant impact at the 2025 Oman Amateur Open, delivering rounds of 72, 70, and 72 to achieve a total score of 214, finishing two under par. This dominant 13-shot triumph took place at Ghala Golf Club in Muscat.
Ahmed’s win not only showcased his exceptional consistency but also highlighted his ability to excel under pressure on one of the region’s most challenging courses. Ghala Golf Club, renowned for hosting both local and international tournaments, including the MENA Golf Tour, once again provided a fitting backdrop for one of the Gulf’s most promising golfers.
Ahmed’s success was founded on accuracy and patience. Over 54 holes, he tallied eight birdies, four bogeys, and just one double bogey.
“My long game approach was the best it has been recently. It’s a significant improvement from last year’s performance at this tournament, where I finished second,” Ahmed commented on his breakthrough victory.
This win marks another milestone in Ahmed’s rapidly advancing career as he prepares for the prestigious Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), scheduled for next month at the Majlis Course, Emirates Golf Club in his home country.
“I have several key tournaments coming up soon. A major focus is on preparing for the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) next month in the UAE at the Majlis Course of Emirates Golf Club. I made the cut last year in Japan and I’m eager to perform with the home course advantage against an international field – I’m well-acquainted with the Majlis Course. It’s set to be a highlight of my year,” Ahmed added.
Before that, Ahmed will compete in the 7th Bahrain Amateur Open at Royal Golf Club in early October, part of the Arab Golf Series supported by the Arab Golf Federation (AGF).
The Oman Amateur Open also featured categories for Seniors Gross, Men’s Net, Women’s Gross, and Women’s Net, highlighting the event’s inclusive spirit.
