Israel Halts Aid to Gaza After Military Clash

Yediot Ahronot reported on Sunday: “The political level has approved the Israeli army’s recommendation, and aid to the Gaza Strip will be halted until further notice.” The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted an Israeli political source saying that “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued the order in this regard.” Earlier today, the Israeli Air Force launched an attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip following an exchange of gunfire between the Israeli army and Palestinians.

Israeli media reported that the bombing followed an explosion in an Israeli military vehicle, indicating that six Israeli soldiers were injured in the security incident south of Gaza. It was explained that “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security session to discuss the response to the ceasefire violation in Gaza,” while the Palestinian movement Hamas asserted that “Netanyahu’s attempts to evade and deny his commitments come under the pressure of his extremist coalition.”

Last Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed an agreement regarding a ceasefire in Gaza, under which Israeli hostages in the sector and the bodies of deceased prisoners were released, in addition to Israel releasing about two thousand Palestinian prisoners.
