The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen. The Houthi rebels have frequently launched such attacks, claiming they are retaliating against Israel’s actions in Gaza.

“After sirens were heard in various parts of Israel, a missile from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF,” stated the Israeli army on Telegram, mentioning the air force.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the missile launch.

However, the Houthi rebels have consistently targeted Israel with missiles and drones since their ally, Hamas, attacked Israel in October 2023, igniting the Gaza conflict.

The Houthis, asserting their support for Palestinians, had paused their attacks during the two-month Gaza ceasefire that concluded in March but resumed them as Israel intensified operations.

In response, Israel has conducted multiple strikes in Yemen, focusing on Houthi-controlled ports and the airport in the rebel-held capital, Sanaa.

On Wednesday, Israeli airstrikes in Houthi-controlled Yemen reportedly killed 35 people and injured more than 130, according to the rebels. This occurred days after a significant attack resulted in the death of their prime minister and half of the cabinet.
