Israel Prepares to Return Israeli Prisoners’ Bodies

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Tuesday evening, citing informed sources, that Israel is preparing to return the bodies of two more Israeli prisoners, leaving 13 others in the Gaza Strip. It explained that Israeli authorities received a message stating that the movement had found the bodies of two prisoners today and that they would be handed over to Tel Aviv later today.

The newspaper confirmed on its website that U.S. President Donald Trump had warned the Hamas movement against continuing what he described as a “violation of the ceasefire agreement,” as well as against the entry of U.S. forces into Gaza. It noted that the head of Egyptian General Intelligence would meet with U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Whitkov, who is currently visiting Israel.

The Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh hosted an international summit on October 13, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, with the presence of leaders from more than 20 countries. The Palestinian Hamas movement launched on October 13 and later handed over a number of detainees’ bodies, confirming that it continues to work to locate the remaining bodies to deliver them to Israel. In return, Israel released about 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners from its prisons as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement came into effect on October 10.
