The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated: “A statement was issued by the Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health announcing that an Israeli enemy raid on a car in the city of Baalbek resulted in an initial toll of two martyrs.” In the same context, Israeli Channel 12 reported that the Israeli army targeted a Hezbollah member in Lebanon, claiming his involvement in directing “terrorist operations.” The army was supposed to complete its withdrawal from the areas it occupied in southern Lebanon by January 26th, but Israel did not adhere to the deadline and maintained its military presence in five strategic points in the south of the country, citing “the need to ensure the protection of northern settlements,” while continuing to launch attacks on Lebanon from time to time. Israel conducts repeated attacks on areas in southern Lebanon under the pretext of alleged threats, including dropping bombs near forces belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
