In a violent attack, Israeli warplanes launched eight missiles yesterday, Wednesday, targeting a large area designated for the maintenance of heavy machinery such as bulldozers and trucks in southern Lebanon, resulting in losses estimated at millions of dollars. The areas of Sidana and Shebaa also faced artillery shelling, while a drone carried out a raid on the town of Yater, and a warplane targeted the outskirts of Zrarieh with two missiles.

In the town of Ansariyeh, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that ten civilians, including three children, were injured due to the Israeli raids. According to the final tally of last Wednesday’s attacks, five victims fell in the various targeted areas, along with significant property damage and financial losses amounting to millions of dollars.

In this context, Nour Shahrour, a local resident, told ‘Sputnik’: ‘This strike is economically significant as there is no military target or site. They are sending a message that no machinery should go south to clear rubble or contribute to reconstruction.’ He added, ‘But we say, no matter the Israeli arrogance, victory is ours. Minutes after launching the missiles, they achieved nothing but destroying machinery here, so what did they gain?’

He continued, ‘Israel targets our livelihood. This is the second attack on the place, so where are the weapons and missiles they talk about? And where is the government and its role?’ Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon via his account on the ‘X’ platform, affirming that they contradict the November agreement and UN resolution 1701, as well as international law principles and provisions.

Salam emphasized that the credibility of the international community is at stake, calling for immediate action to compel Israel to stop these attacks and respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and the safety of its people.
