The army explained that it launched an airstrike that resulted in the death of Amer Hael Qusaibani, the leader known as the ‘Sinai Complex’ in the Lebanese ‘Hezbollah’. In another operation, it targeted a member of the ‘Radwan Force’ in the Tebnin area.
The statement pointed out that the targets were involved in attempts to rebuild military infrastructure for the Lebanese ‘Hezbollah’ in the south, noting that these activities represent a ‘violation of the existing understandings with Lebanon’. It confirmed that the Israeli army will continue to work to remove any threat against Israel.
The ceasefire agreement between ‘Hezbollah’ and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024, more than a year after ‘Hezbollah’ opened what it called the ‘Support Front for the Gaza Sector’. The army was supposed to complete its withdrawal from areas it occupied in southern Lebanon by January 26 of the previous year, but Israel did not adhere to the deadline and maintained its military presence in five strategic points in the south of the country, citing ‘ensuring the protection of northern settlements’ and continued to launch attacks on Lebanon from time to time.
Israel conducts repeated attacks on areas in southern Lebanon on the pretext of alleged threats, including dropping bombs near forces affiliated with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
