The Israeli army stated in a press release that “the numbers of hunger-related deaths have been exaggerated to serve Hamas’ goals,” adding that “most hunger-related deaths suffered from chronic illnesses,” according to them.
The statement clarified that “investigations conducted by the security establishment, with the participation of medical professionals, showed that there are no indicators of a widespread malnutrition phenomenon among the residents of the Gaza Strip.”
Residents of the Gaza Strip suffer from unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of the spread of famine and rising numbers of deaths due to malnutrition, particularly among children, patients, and people with disabilities.
From October 7, 2023, until August 5 of the current year, more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, in addition to about 153,000 injured, according to the Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health.
