The Israeli army announced early Wednesday that it “detected the launch of a missile from Yemen towards Israeli territory, and the air defense systems worked to intercept this threat.” An Israeli army statement confirmed that sirens were heard in several areas in Israel, especially in the city of Jerusalem and its surroundings, following the missile launch from Yemen.
The Home Front Command clarified that sirens were heard in the central region and in the Jerusalem area, including within the city itself and in other surrounding areas. The military statement noted that the missile was intercepted, and no injuries or damages were reported.
On July 28, “Ansar Allah” announced an escalation in its attacks on Israel and the commencement of the fourth phase of the “maritime blockade on Israel,” threatening to target ships belonging to any company dealing with Israeli ports, regardless of their nationality, wherever the group’s forces can reach. This was in response to the ongoing operations of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
At the end of July, Abdul Malik al-Houthi revealed that his forces had launched 1,679 missiles, drones, and warships against Israel and ships associated with the US and the UK since November 2023. The “Ansar Allah” group has been conducting attacks on Israel and related ships from the US and the UK since November 2023 in response to the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.
Since Tel Aviv resumed its military operations in the Gaza Strip on March 18, the “Ansar Allah” group in Yemen has intensified its attacks on Israel and associated ships from the US and the UK. This led to the US forces conducting hundreds of airstrikes on the group’s sites in Yemen before the group and Washington reached a ceasefire agreement on May 6. However, “Ansar Allah” confirmed that the agreement does not include operations against Israel.
