Israeli Forces Intercept Gaza-Bound Fleet

Earlier today, the organizers of the ‘Fleet of Resilience’ heading towards the shores of the Gaza Strip confirmed the interception of the ships by Israeli forces. Meanwhile, the International Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza reported that Israeli forces threatened to stop the ship ‘Alma’, one of the Freedom Flotilla ships heading to the Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian aid and break the siege.

The fleet faces the risk of interception by the Israeli navy, which has a history of seizing ships heading to Gaza and deporting activists. The ongoing Israeli war since October 2023 has resulted in the deaths of more than 66,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, amidst famine and the spread of epidemics.

Israel has repeatedly stated that it will not allow these ships to approach the shores of Gaza, citing the naval blockade imposed on the Strip amid ongoing military operations there. According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, activists have rejected all these offers.

It is noteworthy that in May 2010, six ships carrying humanitarian aid headed to Gaza, where Israeli special forces attacked the Turkish ship ‘Mavi Marmara’, leading to clashes that resulted in the death of 10 activists and injuries to dozens.
