The joint statement said that last week in the Nusirat area, Misbah Salim Misbah Al-Dayeh was eliminated, adding that he was “engaged in recruiting saboteurs in Judea and Samaria and within Israel, using them to plan and execute terrorist operations.” It continued: “During the war, the organization led by Al-Dayeh was involved in promoting terrorist attacks within Israel and against army forces operating in the Gaza Strip,” affirming that the army and Shin Bet will continue to work resolutely against terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip and eliminate any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel.

Israeli media reported on Tuesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is taking serious action. Israeli newspaper “Maariv” reported on Tuesday evening that Netanyahu was scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss the possibility of applying Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank, but the meeting was postponed until further notice.

The newspaper explained that “against the backdrop of a wave of announcements from Western countries recognizing [Palestine], it was planned for Netanyahu to hold a meeting on this matter, just days before the opening of the UN General Assembly in New York, where a joint declaration by several Western countries led by France is planned regarding their recognition of a Palestinian state.”

The newspaper noted that “the United States will make strenuous efforts to prevent this event on its soil, in light of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s decision not to allow Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to enter the United States.”

It is worth mentioning that Netanyahu proposed the idea of annexing the West Bank and the Jordan Valley in 2020, describing the move as a historical opportunity that comes only once a century. The idea of imposing sovereignty over the West Bank and the phrase “Greater Israel” date back to after the 1967 war, during which Israel occupied Palestinian and Arab lands, a phrase linked to an alleged geographical context of the state’s borders in the region.

Currently, Israel is engaged in a wide-ranging war against the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing since October 7, causing the death of more than 63,000 Palestinians and injuring about 160,000 others, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health data. Meanwhile, Netanyahu rejects all local and global calls to end the war and opposes any internal voices demanding a truce agreement.
