Katz added in a statement on the ‘X’ platform that ‘there is no place for such a terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip,’ emphasizing that the recent Cabinet decision to continue intensive operations in the region reflects Israel’s determination to achieve the goals of the war, which include ‘completely defeating Hamas, ensuring the return of all detainees, and providing full security for Israeli communities through a strong security perimeter in Gaza.’ Katz affirmed that Israel will respond to its enemies with ‘one strong and united fist,’ adding that international threats and accusations of imposing sanctions ‘will not weaken our resolve, as the time when Jews did not defend themselves has passed.’ The Israeli Defense Minister concluded his statement by saying: ‘It is time for leadership to make decisive decisions. We must be worthy of our soldiers and the families of martyrs and detainees, and we will continue to fight together until victory.’ The Israeli Security Cabinet approved a plan to take control of Gaza City, just hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to extend military control over the entire sector, despite the growing wave of internal and external criticism of the war that has been ongoing for nearly two years on Palestinian territories.
