Italian Frigate to Request Flotilla Return

The organizers added: “The Italian Foreign Ministry informed us that the frigate accompanying the fleet will request the participants to return to shore.” The organizers clarified that “the participants are fully aware of the risks and will not back down from (heading to Gaza Strip).” The “Global Resilience” flotilla set sail at the beginning of September to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid, particularly medical supplies, to the region experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster since the crossings were closed in March 2025.

It faces the risk of interception by the Israeli navy, which is accustomed to seizing ships heading to Gaza and deporting activists. Meanwhile, the ongoing Israeli war since October 2023 has resulted in the deaths of more than 66,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, amidst famine and the spread of epidemics.
