With this victory, Jawadi adds a second gold medal to his tally in the championship, confirming his remarkable performance in this global event, according to the Tunisian newspaper “Al Shorouk.” Last Wednesday, Jawadi won in the 800-meter freestyle, during the fourth day of the World Aquatics Championships held in Singapore. Jawadi recorded a time of 7:36.88 minutes, achieving the third-best time in the history of this race, according to Tunisian media.
Jawadi, who finished fourth in the 2024 Paris Olympics, succeeded in claiming his first world title in his professional career, outperforming German swimmer Sven Schwartz, who won silver with a time of 7:39.96 minutes, and his compatriot Lukas Maertens, who took bronze with a time of 7:40.19 minutes. Jawadi qualified for the final with distinction, after topping the second heat and the overall ranking with a time of 7:41.58 minutes, reflecting his high readiness for this achievement.
Jawadi continues to shine as one of the most promising swimmers, having previously won the gold medal in the 1500-meter race and the bronze in the 800-meter freestyle in 2024. Tunisia participates in this championship with a team of four athletes: Ahmed Jawadi, Mohamed Yassine Ben Abbas, Belhassen Ben Milad, and Jamila Boulakbash, amid hopes of achieving more accomplishments.
