This came during the reception of the Jordanian King by Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Representative Joe Wilson, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra). The meeting discussed the strategic partnership with the United States, alongside joint efforts to enhance peace and stability in the Middle East.

The Jordanian King reiterated his country’s opposition to Israeli plans aimed at strengthening military control over Gaza and expanding settlements in the West Bank, especially the ‘E1’ settlement plan east of Jerusalem. This plan aims to isolate the city from its Palestinian surroundings and divide the West Bank into two parts by confiscating Palestinian lands and establishing new settlements.

The official spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry, Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, confirmed Jordan’s absolute rejection of these provocative statements, describing them as ‘heresies and delusions of extremists’. He emphasized ‘Amman’s steadfast position supporting Palestinian rights and rejecting Israeli war crimes’. He considered these statements to reveal the isolation of the Israeli government and its internal crisis.

Qudah warned against the continuation of its policies threatening security and stability in the region and its violations of international law and Security Council resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2334 that rejects settlement and annexation of Palestinian lands, alongside the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice confirming the illegality of the occupation, according to a statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sufyan Qudah, renewed the call for ‘stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza and escalation in the West Bank, ensuring the protection of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights to establish their independent sovereign state, with accountability for the perpetrators of crimes against them’.
