Kamchatka – Sputnik. The center’s statement confirmed that the earthquake occurred at 00:29 Moscow time (21:29 GMT on Saturday), with coordinates set at 51.9491 latitude north and 160.8598 longitude east, at a depth of approximately 49.6 kilometers in the Pacific Ocean.
Official information indicated that it was felt in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, with residents clearly experiencing the morning tremors, as shared by many on social media platforms.
This earthquake comes less than a month after the violent tremor that struck Kamchatka on July 30, considered the strongest since 1952, registering a magnitude of 8.8. Since then, scientists have recorded a series of daily aftershocks, most of which are weak and not felt by residents.
According to seismologists, the intensity and frequency of these aftershocks are gradually decreasing, suggesting a relative return to normal seismic activity.
