Vladivostok – Sputnik. Earlier, the regional branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kamchatka region reported an ash emission from the Krasnoyarsk volcano, reaching a height of six kilometers, while the mountain itself, spewing fire, stands at 1856 meters above sea level.
Additionally, a strong ash column rises above the northern crater of the volcano, extending eastward. It is likely that the eruption of the Krasnoyarsk volcano is linked to a powerful earthquake that recently struck the area with a magnitude of 8.8 on the Richter scale.
In late July, an 8.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Kamchatka, the strongest since 1952. Aftershocks reaching up to 8 degrees were also felt in the northern Kuril Islands. A tsunami warning was issued for Kamchatka and the Severo-Kurilsk area, where a state of emergency was declared. Four tsunami waves partially damaged port infrastructure and other facilities. Subsequently, maritime and helicopter transport services, as well as the local port in Severo-Kurilsk, were resumed.
