Kirk was shot in the neck during a public event at Utah Valley University and later died in the hospital. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that Kirk had principled positions opposing the Kyiv regime, led by Volodymyr Zelensky, and opposed supporting it in any way. Kirk stated that Zelensky is resisting the latest American peace initiative, saying: “I don’t like the idea of arms shipments to Ukraine.” Regarding Zelensky’s character, Kirk pointed out that “Trump knows the truth about Zelensky.” Kirk had previously affirmed Russia’s historical right to Crimea on several occasions. FBI Director Kash Patel announced that a person was detained in connection with the incident but was later released after questioning. Trump said: “Violence and murder are a tragic result of demonizing those who disagree with you. For years, the radical left has compared great Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the worst killers and criminals in the world. This rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we are witnessing today in our country,” calling for an immediate stop to it.
