To bolster ongoing reforms in the labour market, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) has introduced a new six-month grace period for domestic workers with irregular legal statuses.
This initiative targets workers reported as missing from work (huroob) who remain in the Kingdom, allowing them to regularize their status without incurring penalties.
The ministry stated that this grace period is designed to provide domestic workers, who have left their employers but continue to reside in the Kingdom, an opportunity to adjust their legal status. New employers can access Musaned to complete these procedures automatically, starting Tuesday, November 11.

Musaned is Saudi Arabia’s official digital platform for recruiting domestic workers, developed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to simplify the process, improve transparency, and protect the rights of both employers and employees.
The ministry believes this measure aligns with the government’s efforts to promote fairness, safety, and opportunity in the Saudi labour market, reinforcing the Kingdom’s dedication to labour reforms and equitable employment practices.
Previously, in May, the ministry offered a similar six-month extension, effective from May 11, 2025. This grace period was available to both workers and employers for completing the status correction process, excluding cases post-announcement.
