Lando Norris from McLaren clinched his first F1 drivers’ world championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.
In a thrilling season finale, Norris secured third place, becoming the 11th British driver to claim the world title.
Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver, won the race but couldn’t stop Norris from taking the championship.
Oscar Piastri, Norris’ teammate from Australia and another title hopeful, finished second under the Yas Marina lights.
Throughout the season, Norris captured the hearts of F1 fans, ultimately dashing Verstappen’s hopes of matching Michael Schumacher’s record of five consecutive titles. Tears of joy flowed as fireworks celebrated the new champion.
“Thank you, guys! You’ve made a dream come true. I love you all, I love you mum, I love you dad,” Norris expressed over the McLaren team radio.
