The Ministry of Health and Prevention has launched a regular national campaign to raise awareness about seasonal influenza, which is held under the slogan “Strengthen yourself… Protect your community”. The campaign, implemented in collaboration with the Emirates Foundation for Health Services, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and other health institutions, will continue until March 2025.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among the population, improve preventive measures, reduce the incidence of influenza complications, encourage people to get vaccinated and train health workers in modern international methods of prevention and treatment of seasonal diseases. The official launch of the campaign took place at a press conference in Dubai, which was attended by senior representatives of ministries and health institutions.
The target audience of the campaign includes a wide range of citizens, with a special focus on pregnant women, elderly people over 50 years old, people with chronic diseases and children under 5 years old, as well as health workers. The information materials will be disseminated through a variety of media formats, including digital platforms, newspapers, television and radio, as well as public events in shopping malls and educational institutions.
Dr. Hussain Abdulrahman Al Rand noted that this national initiative is integrated with the National Immunization Policy, which serves as a framework for combating communicable diseases, including seasonal influenza, as part of the ministry’s strategy to improve public health. He commented that the efforts are aimed at developing the health system’s response to respiratory diseases and improving control through the integration of health authorities.
Dr. Faisal Al Ahbabi said that the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center is actively collaborating with health partners to promote the importance of vaccination as a primary means of preventing influenza. Vaccination is recommended for all citizens aged 6 months and above, especially for those at high risk.
