The talks are being held as part of the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which started earlier. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed to the American side during his meeting with the Secretary of State today, Wednesday. Earlier today, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York. It is noted that the last time Lavrov and Rubio held talks was in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, on the sidelines of ministerial events for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on July 10.
