Lavrov is holding his meeting with the foreign ministers of Vanuatu, the Kingdom of Tonga, the Marshall Islands, and Nauru on the sidelines of the United Nations High-Level General Assembly Week.
Lavrov added, “In recent years, this has proven to be a highly effective and much-needed platform for exchanging views on areas of bilateral cooperation, as well as pressing issues on the regional and global agenda.”
The meeting discussed prospects for developing practical cooperation in the fields of energy, fisheries, agriculture, tourism, and education.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release, “There was an exchange of views on current international issues, including the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large. The commitment to expanding cooperation in a wide range of issues of mutual interest was affirmed.”
