The National Media reported today, Tuesday, indicating that the Minister of Information, Paul Morcos, stated that the Cabinet reviewed the army’s monthly report on the exclusivity of weapons in the country.
Morcos said that the Cabinet decided to maintain the content of the army’s plan while keeping the deliberations confidential, requesting the army to submit its monthly report to the government.
On August 7, the Lebanese government announced its support for the proposed steps in what is known as the “American paper,” which includes disarming Hezbollah and deploying the Lebanese army in the south.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that the issue in the state’s hands is a Lebanese internal affair, pointing out that his country faced two options: either agreeing to the “American paper” or “isolation.”
In May, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, stated that “the party will overcome challenges thanks to the resistance project,” affirming “the weapons are for resisting the Israeli occupying entity and have no relation to the Lebanese interior.”
