Hamadeh, in an intervention via ‘Sputnik’ radio, referred to the reliance on the constitutional text in paragraph ‘Y’, which states that ‘no legitimacy to any authority that contradicts the National Charter of coexistence,’ considering that ‘the government has overturned the national charter, the constitution, the Taif Agreement, and its ministerial statement.’ He added, ‘We are open to dialogue to the fullest extent, but we are not concerned with the Zionist-American dictates represented by the American paper that calls for confrontation, which we neither want nor warn against, nor do we threaten. We will not violate the constitution, sovereignty, and independence as a fundamental component of Lebanon in any discussion except according to the method we have drawn and stipulated in Resolution 1701, which means the withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories, stopping the aggression, and completing the reconstruction path.’ Hamadeh concluded by confirming that ‘escalatory steps are open, and those who have led the country into this tunnel must find the exit.’ On the past Sunday, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, confirmed his openness to discuss the fate of ‘Hezbollah’s’ weapons within the framework of a comprehensive national dialogue and under the constitution. The Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, announced on August 5th that he tasked the Lebanese army with developing an implementation plan to restrict weapons to the state, including disarming ‘Hezbollah,’ to present it to the cabinet before the end of the month, aiming to complete the file before the end of the year. It is noteworthy that the ceasefire between ‘ and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024, after more than a year of ‘Hezbollah’ opening what it called a ‘support front for the Gaza Strip,’ and despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally launches strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are to remove ‘Hezbollah threats.’
