This was the result of a series of raids and meticulous security follow-up, according to the Lebanese National News Agency. The Directorate of Intelligence managed to arrest two Syrians for their involvement in the operation. The statement indicated that the investigation with the detainees has begun under the supervision of the competent judiciary, while efforts continue to arrest the remaining individuals involved in the case.
The ministry stated that this achievement was made possible thanks to the close security and intelligence cooperation between the General Directorate of Counter Narcotics in Iraq and the General Directorate of State Security in Lebanon, as reported by the National News Agency.
The agency added: “Baghdad provided the Lebanese side with precise information that enabled a wide-scale operation in mid-July, which resulted in the seizure of the factory and the thwarting of massive amounts of narcotic materials prepared for manufacturing and promotion.”
The statement further mentioned that the General Directorate of State Security in Lebanon sent an official letter to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, confirming that this cooperation reflects the strength of relations between the two countries and embodies Iraq’s leading role in facing cross-border threats, especially drugs, which pose the greatest threat to Arab societies.
