In this context, members of the (6 + 6) Committee valued the recommendations of the advisory committee issued last May 5, affirming their commitment to incorporating them into the process of drafting executable electoral laws that take into account the requirements of the phase and the accumulations of the political division the country has witnessed.

Both parties emphasized that comprehensive political settlement is the cornerstone in creating the appropriate conditions for conducting, requiring the amendment of the existing constitutional declaration and a comprehensive review of electoral laws to ensure integrity, along with forming a unified government with a clear and time-bound electoral mandate.

The attendees also agreed on the necessity of adopting local and international guarantees capable of rebuilding trust between state institutions and citizens, given the country’s declining confidence in the political process. The joint outcomes of the consultations included a call to take measures to enhance local governance, ensure election security, push forward national reconciliation, and promote financial transparency and combat corruption as a fundamental condition for establishing a stable electoral environment.

This meeting comes as part of a series of consultations led by the United Nations Support Mission with various active parties, ahead of the anticipated announcement of the new political roadmap during the upcoming briefing of the UN envoy before the UN Security Council.
