Louvre Theft: Priceless Jewels Stolen

In an interview with ‘France Inter’ radio, Darmanin said: ‘There are many museums in Paris, many museums in France, with priceless values.’ He added: ‘It is certain that we have failed,’ adding that the French police will eventually arrest the perpetrators of the crime. The Louvre Museum is scheduled to reopen its doors in Paris at 09:00 local time (07:00 GMT) on Monday after thieves stole priceless jewelry from the collection of Napoleon and Empress Eugénie. However, part of the exhibit will be closed, according to French media.

French media reported on Sunday that thieves broke into the Louvre Museum in Paris and stole 9 out of 23 jewelry pieces on display, including pins, necklaces, and tiaras. The public prosecutor in Paris, Laure Beccuau, later stated that there are two main theories regarding the Louvre theft: the jewelry may have been stolen for a commission or for money laundering purposes.
