The MENA Golf Tour is solidifying its status as a gateway to the international scene, with alumni like Matt Fitzpatrick, Robert MacIntyre, Thriston Lawrence, and Todd Clements making waves at the DP World Tour Play-Offs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai this week.
Their standout performances in the consecutive Rolex Series events highlight the Tour’s crucial role as a launchpad for new talent.
Next week, the MENA Golf Tour Q School begins at Troia Golf Course, with registration closing on Saturday, 15 November. Ambitious golfers from the region and beyond are invited to follow in the footsteps of these successful graduates and kickstart their professional journeys.
Ryder Cup star and Major champion Fitzpatrick stressed the importance of structured opportunities for young players: “Offering players opportunities is genuinely beneficial – especially here in the Middle East,” he noted. “The MENA Golf Tour is an excellent testing ground; success here can pave the way to higher levels.”
Lawrence, the 2015 MENA Tour Order of Merit winner and current five-time DP World Tour champion, shared how the Tour was pivotal in his early career: “In 2015, I had nowhere to play. The MENA Tour offered a sequence of events, and winning the Order of Merit provided the confidence and platform to advance.”
DP World Tour victor Clements praised the Tour’s renewed focus on players: “When I heard about the MENA Golf Tour’s return, I was thrilled because it was crucial in launching my career,” he said.
“Young players can learn invaluable lessons – mastering the nuances of the game, adapting to travel, and playing on diverse terrains. I urge aspiring golfers to secure their Q School spot before the deadline.”
The 2025–26 MENA Golf Tour season promises a robust schedule to enhance player development. The 12-event calendar covers Portugal, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, and the GCC, organized in regional clusters to minimize travel time and expenses.
Each regular-season event guarantees a tax-free USD $100,000 purse, with payouts processed within 48 hours. A mid-season Q-Sprint at Al Houara (22–23 February 2026) offers another route to Tour status, boasting a USD $50,000 prize fund.
Clements emphasized the value of prize money for emerging golfers: “Everyone wants to compete for substantial sums, and seeing a guaranteed USD $100k per event is refreshing, showing genuine investment in grassroots development,” he said.
“This prize money reinvests in players’ growth and offers them more opportunities to compete worldwide, making a significant impact.”
