This syndrome, which includes high blood pressure, high sugar levels, triglycerides, and low good cholesterol, is a major risk factor that may lead to neurodegenerative disorders, according to a British newspaper. The study, published in the journal ‘Neurology’, recorded 3,222 cases of the disease during the follow-up period. The results, supported by data from 8 previous studies involving 25 million people, confirmed a continued increased risk of 29% even after accounting for factors such as age, physical activity, and genetic predisposition.

Dr. Willie Shaw added that ‘improving metabolic health may be a crucial preventive step, especially for those with a family history of heart disease’. It is estimated that ‘one in four adults has metabolic syndrome, and many are unaware of their condition’. Researchers called for further studies to confirm whether treating this syndrome can effectively reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and adopting healthy lifestyles to prevent this degenerative disease.

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder that causes tremors, stiffness, and movement difficulties.
