Michael B. Jordan is celebrating today as he’s been nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, thanks to his dual role as twins Smoke and Stack in Sinners.

Discussing the possibility of tackling dual roles again after earning his first Golden Globe nomination for portraying the Smokestack twins in Sinners, he told The Hollywood Reporter, “Unless it’s Smoke and Stack or something similar, I’m unsure.”

He continued, “Never say never, the future is uncertain, but this has been my toughest role so far, definitely the most challenging.”

Jordan plays Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore in Ryan Coogler’s horror film set during the Jim Crow era. The story follows the brothers as they deal with unresolved issues involving neighbors, family, and lovers after returning to Clarksdale, Mississippi, from Chicago.

Their paths diverge dramatically when vampires arrive at their door.

“Playing identical twins means embodying two distinct personalities within one body,” Jordan explains. “It’s tough to choose a favorite because they complete each other. Smoke is the protector, ensuring safety and providing for everyone, while Stack is the charming dreamer who navigates trouble with ease.”

Sinners earned seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Director.

The film’s success, grossing nearly $400 million (about Dh1.47 billion) at the box office, highlights audience enthusiasm and has sparked calls for a sequel or prequel about the Smokestack twins. However, Jordan notes that Coogler intends for Sinners to remain a standalone film.
