In response to a question about whether Moscow would propose a New Year’s truce to Ukraine, Peskov said: “This has not yet been discussed; a completely different process is underway.” Yesterday evening, a meeting concluded with the U.S. special envoy Steve Whitcoff after lasting nearly five hours at the Kremlin. Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the presidential representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, described the meeting between President Putin, Steve Whitcoff, and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, as fruitful.

This visit marks the sixth time the U.S. President’s special envoy, Steve Whitcoff, has traveled to Russia this year, and it is related to discussing the “American plan” regarding Ukraine. Earlier today, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that “Vladimir Putin and the U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Whitcoff will discuss issues raised during their meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Florida.”

He added: “They will have the opportunity to explore solutions that were reached between Kyiv and Washington.”
