Muqtada al-Sadr stated in a post on his official account on the “X” platform: “It is the first election in Iraq without the National Shia Current, which has led to increased fears among the participants, along with rising speculations about potential scenarios. It was said that the National Shia Current would prevent access to the ballot boxes by force, that it would incite unrest to ensure the environment is not ready for elections, and that it would mobilize its millions of popular bases into the streets with protests and demonstrations that might not be peaceful or otherwise.
Strangely, their arrows are still aimed at the National Shia Current despite its withdrawal from the democratic process, in addition to the shaky elections that neither nourish nor satisfy hunger, through which losers sit at the top, the corrupt dominate, and those who enacted the criminalization law and the food security law are absent.
Al-Sadr said: “If you want escalation, you know we are ready, and your threats will not frighten us, nor will your arrows harm us, for they are nothing but a roar that will turn, after announcing the results, into conflicts among you who participated in them. Those who boycott will continue to do so, and those who choose to participate will follow the instructions of their scholars and wise men, and they will not give their vote to the tried, for the tried should not be retried.”
The leader of the “National Shia Current” in Iraq, Muqtada al-Sadr, added: “In addition to files of drought, pollution, electricity, poor education, economic deterioration, border protection, and health files, and hospitals suffering calamities, and security files that have no overseer, with some tribes’ weapons on one hand and militias’ weapons on the other, and militia headquarters in every alley without any benefit except the presence of weapons that may explode, harming none but Iraqi blood.”
Muqtada al-Sadr concluded by saying: “So, O group, if you claim that your strength is a strength for Iraq and its people, while unemployment is widespread, deviant and extremist ideas are rampant, diseases are spreading, poverty and moral corruption are increasing, the danger is religious and ideological and not just national… So where are you from (Shiism)??”
