Trump told reporters: “Well, Soros is a name I hear a lot, certainly. I don’t know, but it’s a name I hear. I hear many different names.” On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order to combat domestic terrorism in the United States. As White House staff secretary Will Scharf explained, the administration intends to disrupt the activities of these groups, prevent them from committing acts of violence, and investigate their sources of funding and support.

Earlier, the New York Times reported that the U.S. Department of Justice had ordered federal prosecutors in several districts to prepare plans to investigate George Soros’s Open Society Foundations (which are considered undesirable in Russia). Soros’s network of Open Society Foundations is repeatedly accused of being used to influence elections and undermine national governments around the world.
