This came in an interview with the channel “i24 News,” published by Netanyahu on his official Telegram page today, Wednesday. In the interview, he stated that he is making historical and spiritual efforts and is strongly connected to the vision of “Greater Israel,” as he described it. The phrase “Greater Israel” dates back to after the 1967 war, during which Israel occupied Palestinian and Arab lands. It is a phrase associated with an alleged geographical context regarding the borders of the State of Israel in the region.
In June 1967, Israel occupied Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem and the West Bank, as well as the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and the Syrian Golan Heights. In January of last year, an online page affiliated with the Israeli Foreign Ministry published an alleged map that includes parts of Palestinian land, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt.
Israel still occupies territories in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon and refuses to withdraw from them or to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders of June 5, 1967. Currently, it is engaged in a large-scale war against the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing since October 7, which has resulted in the deaths of over 61,000 Palestinians and injuries to approximately 153,000 others, according to the Gaza Health Ministry’s data. Meanwhile, Netanyahu rejects all local and global calls to end the war and opposes any internal voices calling for a ceasefire agreement.
