He pointed out in statements to ‘Sputnik’ the strategic location of the settlement east of Jerusalem Governorate, overlooking the eastern valleys of the governorate, considering that ‘the occupation seeks to ‘fatten it’ by approving approximately 3,300 housing units, a number that can increase at any moment.’ Regarding Netanyahu’s statements that Israel’s eastern borders are the Jordan Valley and not the Maale Adumim settlement, Breijieh considered that ‘the purpose of these moves is to control the valleys adjacent to the Dead Sea and destroy any hope of establishing a Palestinian state.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed an agreement last Thursday to expand the ‘Maale Adumim’ settlement in the West Bank near Jerusalem as part of the ‘E1’ project. Netanyahu signed a new decision approving a plan to expand Israeli settlements in the West Bank near Jerusalem. The plan, known as ‘E1’, will, if implemented, lead to the division of the West Bank and the isolation of its north from its south, which observers consider as ‘representing the end of any hope for the establishment of a Palestinian state geographically.’

Netanyahu said in a press statement last Thursday that ‘Israel’s eastern borders will be in the Jordan Valley, not at the Maale Adumim settlement.’ The Israeli Prime Minister continued: ‘I promise you there will be no Palestinian state.’ The plan approved by Netanyahu caused international controversy as it aims to eliminate the chances of establishing a Palestinian state with a geographical scope and known borders.

Netanyahu’s statements regarding the West Bank come at a time when Israel continues its war on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the death of about 63,000 Palestinians and the injury of about 164,000 others from October 2023 to the present September.
