Sources in the ministry told Egyptian media that “everything being said about this fire has no basis in truth whatsoever.” They confirmed that “the alleged images of the fire are fake and manufactured by artificial intelligence for the purpose of garnering views.”
The sources pointed out that “the Grand Egyptian Museum opened its doors to the public today as usual with a large crowd, which is the best response to what was published.”
They noted that “the enormous success the museum achieved within days of its opening has made it subject to such unacceptable and criminal practices on social media.”
It is noted that some pages on the “X” platform circulated a post featuring several images about an alleged fire at the Grand Egyptian Museum, under the title: “Huge fire at the Grand Egyptian Museum. This saddened me after its opening just a few days ago.” The posts garnered approximately 1.7 million views.
