Dar Alwd Construction (DAW), the designated contractor for Nomad, a pioneering eco-tourism destination by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) under the Sharjah Collection, has reported notable advancements in the project’s infrastructure development.

Located in the Kalba Mountains, Nomad is envisioned as an eco-friendly retreat that merges seamlessly with the environment, using a hybrid energy system with solar panels and premium natural materials. This aligns with Shurooq’s broader goal to enhance Sharjah’s hospitality sector with destinations that protect biodiversity while offering genuine visitor experiences.

“Sustainability is central to Sharjah’s tourism strategy, and Nomad embodies this by showcasing the harmony between development and environmental preservation,” stated Ahmed Ben Zaied, General Manager of Sharjah Collection. “Incorporating the project within the Sharjah Collection portfolio strengthens the emirate’s image as a hub where culture, nature, and innovation converge.”

For DAW, the task extended beyond standard infrastructure. They have built access roads for tough terrains, established water and sewer networks, and laid foundations and service systems for the project’s long-term needs. Breakwaters, water channels, and renewable-ready utilities ensure the site’s independence from conventional networks.

Key to this strategy is the use of polymer resin concrete (PRC), a cutting-edge material offering enhanced durability and reduced maintenance while minimizing environmental impact. This, along with photovoltaic-ready steel structures and advanced water and waste systems, highlights DAW’s dedication to realizing Shurooq’s sustainable and high-performance infrastructure vision.

“Nomad posed unique geographic and environmental challenges but also an opportunity to show how infrastructure can balance sustainability and performance,” remarked Tarek Musbah Abdul Rahman, General Manager of DAW. “Our mission was to ensure each delivery phase upholds Shurooq’s eco-tourism standards, guaranteeing long-term durability and resilience in a delicate natural environment.”
